TALES OF TOLSTOY comes to Singapore
« Ответ #1 : 11 Апреля 2011, 23:19:12 »
Bringing the greatest works of Russian author, one of the greatest of all novelists, Leo Tolstoy to the shores of Singapore.  Come 3 – 6 May 2011, DMR together with the Support of The Arts House (Old Parliament House) will present “Tales of Tolstoy” featuring his literary masterpieces, “God Sees, but Waits,” and “What Men Live By,” which Irish writer James Joyce called, “The best short story ever written.” This will be held over 4 days at The Arts House.

Leo Tolstoy, or Count Lyev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (September 9, 1828 – November 20, 1910), was a Russian writer many consider to have been one of the world's greatest novelists. His literary masterpieces War and Peace and Anna Karenina represent, in their scope, breadth and vivid depiction of 19th-century Russian life and attitudes, the peak of realist fiction.
Tolstoy's further talents as essayist, dramatist, and educational reformer made him the most influential member of the aristocratic Tolstoy family. His literal interpretation of the ethical teachings of Jesus, centring on the Sermon on the Mount, caused him in later life to become a fervent Christian anarchist and anarcho-pacifist. His ideas on nonviolent resistance, expressed in such works as The Kingdom of God Is Within You, were to have a profound impact on such pivotal twentieth-century figures as Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.

BRUCE KUHN (the Actor)

He now tours his one-man shows throughout the world. Bruce has taught storytelling at Regent College in Canada, Oxford University in England, and for the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) in nine countries. He received his classical training and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Washington in Seattle, and later trained with Uta Hagen in New York city.
